Applying for funding

This document is an internal policy of YAPA. Use it to help develop your own agency's internal policies. You will have to make changes to suit your own context and any legal requirements which apply to you.

Policy

YAPA will seek funding as required to meet its strategic goals.

The management and effectiveness of additional projects must be a primary consideration in seeking additional funds.

Procedures

A staff member who is considering applying for funding must consult the Executive Officer prior to writing a funding application.

The YAPA Board of Management must approve any application for funding for a new project (excludes existing funding arrangements).

A funding application will be approved if

  • It meets the strategic goals of YAPA
  • It is within the role of YAPA, ie training, advocacy etc and is not focused on direct service provision of welfare services
  • YAPA is deemed to have sufficient human, office and financial resources to manage the project.
  • The project does not seek to duplicate or replace a project which is properly within the role of another peak organisation.
  • An appropriate proportion of funding, currently 21%, is allocated towards administration costs to ensure sufficient funds for project management and resourcing.
  • The Board of Management may approve a funding submission in principle and appoint a Board representative to give approval to the final submission on behalf of the Board.
  • YAPA will only apply for funding that meets a social justice objective and is in the best interest of young people.
