2010 Human Rights Forum and Workshop

As part of its youth initiative, Amnesty International Australia 2010 Youth Forum is inviting people aged between 18-30 years to attend a panel discussion and a FREE 1 day workshop on social change and leadership. The panel - Is youth activism dead? – will see debates and discussion on issues relating to youth activism. The workshops will be conducted by experienced campaigners and will equip you with skills to initiate change. This is a fantastic opportunity to know more about how you can make a difference and get your voice heard!

Powershift

The Australian Youth Climate Coalition (AYCC) is the largest youth run youth organisation in Australia and we are working hard to build a generation-wide movement to solve the climate crisis. We’re holding a youth climate summit in Canberra called Power Shift that will aim to educate, inspire, connect and empower hundreds of young people from across the ACT and surrounding areas to become climate leaders.

The summit will run at the Australian National University on the 7th
and 8th of August, and will feature inspirational keynote speakers,
innovative and engaging training sessions and opportunities for
students to connect and network. Power Shift Canberra is part of a
national initiative with summits also being held in Adelaide and
Geelong, giving young people from the ACT a chance to connect with
peers from across the country.

The program costs $55 and includes a free BBQ, band and comedy entertainment on Saturday night, amazing speakers, workshops and more!

    Better link young people to community sports and clubs. Learn where to find sport information and how sport is structured in Australia

    Examine successful youth services projects that use sport to engage with young people

Canberra Radioactive Multicultural and Indigenous Youth Media Conference 2010

The National Ethnic and Multicultural Broadcasters’ Council together with the Australian Indigenous Communications Association and 1CMS, Canberra’s multicultural community radio station, invite you to attend the 2010 National Radioactive Multicultural and Indigenous Youth Media Conference in Canberra. Radioactive is a conference for young people from all backgrounds to engage in community media and become informed about media career pathways. Over two days you will hear from industry professionals, learn media skills, explore what it means to be a media maker and get the chance to meet young people who currently broadcast. It’s a chance to get connected with community media outlets, find out about training and internship opportunities and learn from people in the media industry.

Time: 10:00am-5:00pm (both days)

Registration: $30;

Place: Theo Notaras Multicultural Centre, 2nd Floor, 180 London Circuit, Civic, Canberra ACT; partial subsidy for travels costs for participants may be available;

National Youth Summit 2010
Wish you could participate in a national conference specifically aimed at passionate and engaged tertiary students who want to make difference? Well look no further and make history by registering as a delegate as part of United Nations Youth Association's first, inaugural National Youth Summit!

This four day conference will bring together around 200 of Australia’s most engaged and intelligent tertiary minds, will expose students to experts in the field of Human Rights, and will allow for designated policy workshops where you will be able to discuss matters of domestic and international importance with the aim of developing a "Youth Declaration". The theme for this year’s conference is Human Rights, which will be broken down into smaller focus themes including Conflict, Good Governance, Gender Equality and Minorities.
