Australian Youth Research Centre (AYRC)

The Australian Youth Research Centre is based in the Faculty of Education at The University of Melbourne. Since 1988 we have been carrying out a significant program of national and international research around issues affecting young people.

AYRC publishes:

  • regular Working Papers and Research Reports
  • an occasional newsletter 'Youth Research News' summarising AYRC developments
  • also supports the publication of Connect - an independent bi-monthly journal supporting student participation. Further details are at: www.edfac.unimelb.edu.au/yrc/ or www.geocities.com/rogermhold/Connect

Directory of Australian Youth Researchers

AYRC initiated the Directory of Australian Youth Researchers. The Directory provides a self-regulating database of people and groups who are conducting youth related research.

Youth Affairs Research Network

YARN - the Youth Affairs Research Network - is hosted by the Australian Youth Research Centre on behalf of the broader 'youth research community'. It began in about 1994 in response to several people identifying the need for better information sharing about current research in this area.

YARN consists of two components:

The intention of each is to assist in finding out who is doing what, and where. This email list, for example, encourages you to send information about research-related events, queries that would assist you in your research, share accounts of research you are doing and so on.

The website provides information about youth research related centres and resources nationally and internationally. If there are changes or updates or additions needed here, please let us know ... we try to scan it occasionally, but this (as is the case for other aspects of YARN) is essentially an unfunded resource.

To join YARN, simply send an email to mailserv@unimelb.edu.au saying SUBSCRIBE YARN in the body of the message - nothing in the subject line, and turn off your signature.

To unsubscribe, send a message saying UNSUBSCRIBE YARN to the same address.

To mail to YARN (after you join), send mail to yarn@unimelb.edu.au.
