The Hunter/ Central Coast/ Mid North Coast Youth Workers' Code of Ethics has been developed in close consultation with the Youth Sector over the past two years. The group developing the code has consisted of workers and others who have an interest in this area of youth work practice. This group has also drawn on existing codes from other states and relevant literature.
In order to implement this Code as a useful working document for this agency, the following must be remembered:
- This Code of Ethics does not negate or override the agency's Code of Conduct Policy or other legal requirements of the worker/s.
- This Code of Ethics should be included as part of the agency's orientation kit for new paid or unpaid workers.
- This Code of Ethics should be provided to all existing and future management and/or management committee members.
- If formal external supervision is provided, the supervisor should be supplied with a copy of the Code of Ethics.
- The Code of Ethics should be displayed for the users of the service.
